Rick Astley is officially the Best Act Ever.
It’s been a long time coming and I for one am glad that this is all over.
Without going into too much detail and over analysing I’m just going to instead say congratulations to both Rick Astley for being one awesome dude and the fans for working so hard on this.
You all rock in my world.

Congrats Rick! Awesome work everyone, we did it. It’s a shame it had to be soured by MTV’s fail, but at least they didn’t give it to TH instead. Perez Hilton (wtf) presented the award and just said MTV had been rickrolled but Rick couldn’t make it and he was gonna take the award. He did also diss TH in the process though. It didn’t seem very official at all, there wasn’t even a montage thing showing the nominees, or an envelope. Still, I did hear the words that I’d been waiting for tonight… “The Best Act Ever is…Rick Astley!” and it was awesome.

Rick has agreed to take part in the 82nd Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade on November 27th 2008. He will be on the Cartoon Networks Home for Imaginary Friends float. The event will be featured live on Broadway and NBC.
The parade begins at 77th Street and Central Park West the proceeeds to Colombus Circle and turns onto Broadway. The parade Marches down Broadway and turns west on 34th Street, just past Macy’s Herald Square before finishing up at 7th Avenue.

I am a true Rick fan, I enjoy his music (I nearly always play it on the jukebox when I go to the bar), I own legally purchased copies of several of Rick’s CDs (that means I went to a record store and handed over my hard earned money for them, I didn’t just download them) and have been a fan of Rick’s for a long time, much longer than this rickrolling thing has been around. Some of the people working for this just did it because they could, or to “support the cause” or just to prove a point or be annoying, but many of us ARE real fans and really DO believe Rick deserved the award, rickrolling or no rickrolling.
Further, nothing in the rules MTV themselves laid out prohibited the use of autovoters. It’s not really sporting to claim we cheated when there was nothing in the rules saying we couldn’t do what we did. He won the award fair and square.

To be honest, I am REALLY dissappointed that Rick didn’t perform live, and MTV didn’t even let him be there to accept the fucking award, next year we take MTV down. Anyone else with me? And that fucking Perez Hilton, didn’t respect Rick as anything other than a joke, he’s a great performer yet Perez just said, Oh I’ll take this award home with me. Fucking makes me rage, anyone else?
